Believe it or not, you can no longer buy an iPhone online! See it for yourself.

The Apple Store (U.S.) - iPhone-2.jpg

Maybe this is Apple’s response to mad TV’s spoof commercial

Now, Apple is actually forcing people to wait for the new iPhone instead of having to deal with all the people complaining about how they got an iPhone a day before the 3G came out.

I think its is pretty clear we are seeing a new iPhone in the next month. YAY!

For the past year and a half, Dustin Macdonald has been working of his “super-secret” new RSS reader called Times. The idea itself is very interesting. Imagine picking up a newspaper and instead of reading about EVERYTHING thats going on in the world, you get to read the RSS feeds of your choice. Dustin has tried to create this experience with Times. Times tries to simulate an actually newspaper with pages, columns and stories just like you would see in and actual newspaper.

The best way to use Times is to set it up exactly how you want it. You should create 3-5 pages/categories that you are interested in and fill each one if 3 RSS feeds. For me, I would use 4 pages: iPhone, Apple, Web, Sports and Media. I think times does a really good job of allowing you to organize your RSS feeds. Instead of all of them just pilled up, I feel a sense of categorization. I like this a lot. At the same time, Times has some really cool effects such as when moving around the pages. It makes reading your RSS feeds really refreshing and fun.

This is one of those apps that has so much potential… Times could possibly be a great app, but it just is not. After all the great things I have said about it, Times fails to make my list of good apps. This is because of a few things.

times050208.jpg

1) It is $30. How can you price an RSS reader at $30 when the two most popular are free (NewsFire and NetNewsWire). I mean, if your smart, the highest you would price it is $15. You cannot expect people to buy a product just because the developer put a lot of work into it and it is a good idea. In order for an app to be $30, it really needs to shine. Times is enough better than the competition to be priced at $30.

2) Times is a crashing machine! I cannot keep it open for more than a minute! If it is not crashing for you, try deleting a page and you will know what I mean. You cannot release an app without significant testing. You have to release it for beta testing and make sure it works fine on all machines before your start selling it! This is not acceptable and no one should buy this app until it is fixed

I am a little mad at this developer because I know that this app could be so good. It is a brilliant idea and has so much potential. Dustin should try to push out an update a quick as possible getting rid of as many bugs as possible. He should also lower the price by half.

As of now, Times is just not worth the $30.

The next-gen iPhone is highly rumored to be coming out at the World Wide Developer Convention on June 9th. Here are the some big supporting rumors that you probably have already heard:

  • Internal memo from UK carrier O2 states:

“Due to the highly successful sales of the Apple 8GB iPhone, supply chains have run out of stock and will not be replenishing stock of this product as it has now gone to end of life.”

  • CEO of AT&T, Randall Stephenson confirmed a 2008 ship date of a 3G iPhone.
  • Zibri from ZiPhone spotted some code in the new iPhone 2.0 beta software that suggests Apple will use the Infineon 3G chipset.
  • Many Apple stores around the world are running out of iPhones.
  • Walt Mossberg stated that their would be a new iPhone in 60 days on April 6th (he then took it back saying he has no idea when it will happen).
  • Steve Jobs said it himself that there will be a 3G iPhone some day.

I have created a new blog at iPhoneIntellect.com. Here are a few reasons why I choose to do this:

  • iPhone Intellect will attract a specific audience for just things iPhone related. When I wrote about iPhone things on Apple Intellect, it seemed as if most people didn’t care about it. These people don’t care about it because they do not have iPhones. Almost everyone at iPhone Intellect will have iPhones or iTouches. This means that the majority of my readers will be interested in my posts.
  • Apple Intellect should be more about the mac. Recently I feel I have written more about the iPhone than the Mac, which is essentially what Apple is known for. With Apple Intellect, I want to focus of Mac hardware, software, tips, tricks and more, along with Apple news.
  • Its fun to have two sites. I like having two sites because it allows me to direct people to specific places. If someone is interested in iPhones, I will direct them to iPhone Intellect. If someone is interested in Macs and Apple in general, I will send them here.

Hopefully, I will be blogging on each blog equally. Check out iPhone Intellect!

iSkin Revo Review

The DLO Jam Jacket skin for my iPhone expired a few days ago. The silicone started to rip in a few places such as the near the volume buttons and edges of the screen. It got to the point where it was just too annoying to use and therefor, I needed a new case. I decided to get a similar, yet more expensive case called the iSkin Revo. iSkin is known for making the best cases for all things Apple so I though I’d give them a try.

The Revo comes with the silicone case itself, a visor screen protector, a protective privacy film, and a port protector. The port protector is a small silicone piece that plugged into your dock connector like this:
